 THE LAST THREE DAYS

 By Henry L. Yu, M.D.

  December 21, 2011 (Wednesday)

  = CIM Class 1978 hosted a mass for our dear Alice, 8:00 p.m. at Imperial Chapel   of Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes where the body of Alice lay in state.

*      December 22, 2011 (Thursday)

  = another mass was held at 8:00 p.m. with more people coming as it’s to be the     last vigil night. I arrived late, coming direct from a wedding event.

  December 23, 2011 (Friday)

  = I was in Cosmopolitan at 6:00 a.m. I wanted to be alone with Alice for the last      time. At 8:00 a.m., the requiem mass was celebrated by Fr. Alfonso Suico, after  which Ryan (Alice’s eldest son) delivered his eulogy and message of thanks. This  was followed the eulogy which I have personally written for Alice but have  requested Pete Rosell, our classmate, to read it for me because I know I would  break into tears knowing how low is my E.Q. not knowing that Pete too broke into  tears himself while reading it. We were all so emotionally affected really. Tears of  goodbye were shed, knowing that from then on we won’t have Alice with us  physically. We would surely be missing our dear Alice.

 = By 9:15 a.m. we were all ready to go. So all roads were headed to the Benevola  Memorial Park in Consolacion for the final send off of Alice to her final resting  place. After a short prayer by Fr.Alfonso Suico, we had the final viewing of Alice.

 = A filling snack followed before we had the lunch reception at Ching Palace in  Lahug.

 = The journey without Alice has began. We pray that God will heal us from the  sentimentalities that

 her passing away has brought, to further give us the strength to move on by finally  accepting the reality that Alice has gone back home to the Lord .

 Dear God, eternal rest grant unto our dear Alice…
