An Open Letter
July 8, 2011
Hi Classmates,
Komusta man mo tanan!
I am very thankful to Edwin and Ayen for creating this website for our class. I
know this has taken a lot of your time guys but yet you pursued it, all for the
love of our class!
Let me give you an
update of my self. I am now a dermatologist practicing in Manila. My office is in Manila Doctors Hospital,
United Nations Avenue, near NBI in Taft Avenue if you still remember going
there sometime when you have to get a clearance when you applied for a job, etc.
I’m there Monday to Saturday except Wednesday 11-3pm. Please drop by anytime
when you happen to be in Manila. Pa guapa-hon ug guapo-hon ta mo (but no guarantee,
hehehe)! I am also an associate professor of the University of the Philippines
College of Medicine (UPCM) and currently heads the Section of Dermatology at
Philippine General Hospital. I must say that our CIM’s system of medical education
and training is not far away from this premier university and I feel very proud
of it.
I am married to Camilo
Roa, Jr., my long time boyfriend for 10 years (since pre-med) in Velez. Wala na
gyud lain! Hehehe. He is a pulmonologist and is also a faculty in UPCM. We are
blessed with 4 lovely and good kids (coming from the mother!). My eldest is a girl, Frances Marie (Cesca), 29
years old by October. She is now a second year resident in Ophthalmology in
PGH. She’s very nice and jolly and most of all loving and very responsible. Wala
bay inyong anak dyan nga puede nato i–pares? Wala ma’y BF karon uy (had one
before but broke off. Unsa-on nga mag pari man diay! Gusto na unta ko kay
buo-tan man. He is still into residency in Surgery in another hospital)! My
second child is Mark Vincent (left of Milo), 28 years old. He is into business,
trying his niche in a clinical research company with a Singaporean partner. May
GF na. My third child is Camilo Franco (Mico, right of Milo), 22 years old. He
wants to proceed to law course, hopefully in UP or Ateneo next year. Right now
he is doing some additional English courses in UP Diliman. Gusto maging lawyer
ng Gawad Kalinga. My youngest is Carmelo Alfonso (Carlo, far right), 17 years
old. He is a senior highschool in Multiple Intelligence International School.
He likes to be a doctor too. He once mentioned in an essay he wrote that he
wants to put smile in patients, the same way his parents do when they
(patients) get well.
My life now revolves
around my family, friends, and career. I do get to see some classmates
occasionally when I visit some provinces. Just saw Norma Diy in Bacolod and
Vangie Yee in Cebu last year. I was with Minda Abantao-Talampas yesterday in
St. Luke’s Hospital. Si Jing Abalajon, Henry Yu and Helen Yap are my ka text
mates. In November, kaslon ang eldest son ni Jing ug ninang ako. He is now a
senior resident in Urology sa PGH.
Well, let me end now, and will keep you in touch with more news later.
Warm regards,
Butching
